So I have some exciting news! If the title of this post didn’t give it away – I got a tattoo!
It was my first one and because I had no idea what to expect, I always skip ahead to assuming the worst. I went to the tattoo parlour myself and I just imagined myself lying down on the table, palms sweaty, tears rolling down my face, and me having to tell the artist to stop while I run out of the parlour with a half done tattoo.
Luckily for me, my experience was nothing like that. I went in, they drew up the idea I wanted and sized it properly, and shortly after a tattoo artist was bringing me into his room and I was lying down getting a stencil on me! I must admit, I was quite picky during the placement-of-the-stencil stage. I asked him to move it higher, and then once he did, it appeared crooked to me. It was then that another artist (luckily) came in the room and asked what was going on. The other artist (who was much bossier and straight forward than my tattoo artist) sat me down, drew all over my arm and then put the stencil down and said “That’s where it should be!” and left the room. I was actually quiet pleased and that was the placement I went with.
If I can give any advice to someone who is getting their first tattoo, be specific, but also be open to the advice your tattoo artist gives you. They have experience, and they know what works and what doesn’t.
Now I’ll stop my blabbering and get to the pictures:
